Through the creation process, we get a glimpse into the person of God and the attributes of his invisible nature. The quality of order from chaos, beauty from ashes, all plays a part of art making, pushing us to excellence in our view of God’s glory. From Genesis, we see the creation story sketched into the very heart of our genes. Therefore, we as humans constantly long to see the beauty of creation revealed, and exist to explore the mystery found behind its veil. “In the beginning, God created…”. I think it is important to take notice to the first act of God we encounter in the bible – the act of creating. And if we bear the image of God, it is only plausible for us to reflect his craftsmanship through the working of our gifts and talents. It’s our job to make very good art, as a worship to the Original Artist who said all that he made was “very good.” Through art, we get to explore what we make of the world, while making it a beautiful and welcoming for others. It’s how we as artist can love and serve people well, sparking curiosity and wonder – coloring hope for a better tomorrow.
